Enjoy some great Stiperstones country ridge walk scenery with relaxing music to see if you fancy Shropshire Walks whilst on tour England Walking Holidays UK. Along the route you visit Shepherd’s Rock outcrop, a local church in the hamlet of Shelve, and Stiperstones Ridge. Scenery includes the Stiperstones ridge and when the weather is clear, the views from Stiperstones over Shropshire and the Welsh border country are outstanding. Unfortunately, on our visit there was thick mist that restricted our view to the immediate vicinity of Stiperstones. You may also see sheep, cattle and goats in the fields.

Stiperstones

The Stiperstones is a National Nature Reserve and Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and lies within the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The bleak looking ridge of the Stiperstones rises to 536 metres at its highest point and is unlike any of the other Shropshire hills. Along the 8 kilometres of ridge there is a succession of jagged quartzite rock pinnacles, that is outcrops, that disrupt the ridge. Stiperstones has the appearance more suggestive of wilder parts of Dartmoor or the Pennines. Here you will get a definite feeling of remoteness and isolation in this sparsely populated region.

Shropshire

The county of Shropshire lies in the central region of England; bordering the Welsh counties of: Powys to the west; and Wrexham to the north-west. In England it borders the counties of: Cheshire to the north; Staffordshire to the east; Worcestershire to the south-east; and Herefordshire to the south.
