Once Brewed

Once Brewed And Twice Brewed Inn

“Once Brewed” is a small village on the B6318 Military Road comprised of: the “Twice Brewed Inn” and a YHA youth hostel; the Northumberland National Park visitor centre; and a few farms. It is also called “Twice Brewed” or even referred to as “Once Brewed/Twice Brewed”. A sign within the YHA Hostel states that the “Twice Brewed Inn” existed first, so “Once Brewed” was the name given to the youth hostel.

Hadrians Wall

Buliding Hadrians Wall began about 122 AD, eventually spanning 73 miles over northern England from coast to coast. It was still in use during the fifth century when the Romans decided to abandon Britain. Most of Hadrians Wall today consists of substantial ruins. Some sections of the wall have been rebuilt and others restored to demonstrate how impenetrable and menacing the wall must have been.
